Joseph Doherty

Joe is an American artist,  he completed his MFA in painting at the University of Alberta, Edmonton in December of 2013. His practice encounters the relationship between painting and installation. Joseph completed his BFA in 2009 at Minnesota State Univeristy, Mankato, Minnesota, and went on to complete his MA in painting in the spring of 2011. Joseph is an arts community driven individual with an emphasis on public arts and education. In Mankato, Minnesota Joseph co-created the Rural American Contemporary Arts Festival in addition to numerous volunteer artist positions in non-profit events.

Currently Joseph volunteers at the Nina Haggerty Centre teaching art classes and at The Harcourt House as volunteer support. He also works as a sessional instructor at the University of Alberta, teaching art fundamentals and painting courses. In addition to teaching, he works as a gallery preparatory technician at the Enterprise Square Gallery for the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
